Here is my entry for the Rock The Shot Aug Contest for Silhouettes.  You can find all the entries at www.rocktheshotforum.com or click the banner This images was created by lighting the white back drop and rather than set my exposure for the subjects I set it to intentionally blow out the white and underexpose them.  Fairly easy and straight forward.  In post I cleaned up the backdrop a tad since it didn’t blow out quite the way I had hoped, and I bumped up the blacks a bit to make their silhouette a bit deeper.

This post is helpful when you are trying to hang multiple photographs together in an arrangement.

This next link is a post giving a tip on how to keep your pictures from going crooked.  This happens at my house all the time.  All the stomping kids with the slamming doors, knock my pictures off center.  I love her idea to keep them in place.  I personally use a bit of the puddy stuff you use to hang posters.  http://www.marthastewart.com/272284/picture-hanging-hint

above is Khloe and she is my entry for the cutest baby category in a contest I have entered for a photography seminar I am attending in August.  Below is Abby and she is my entry for the cutest toddler category in the same contest.  They are looking to have live models at the seminar and that is what they are competing for.  Beside being the model, they get some free images on disc and a free gift from Sandy Puc.  Me, I stand to win somethings as well, but to be honest I just want both my clients to win!  So far, we don’t have much in the way of competition (Abby currently has no competition in her category) but I know that will change as the date of the seminar approaches.  What this means is that my fans, friends and family as well as their friends and family have tons of time to go and make comments under BOTH my images.  You can only enter one comment per entry, so where you might have wanted to spend your time casting a vote for them each day, your time is better spent letting your friends and family know that they should vote for some of the cutest kiddos in Connecticut!

I have to say, this was such a nice session!  This little girlie is SO stinking cute, all that hair!  Simply a doll baby!  My only complaint about her was that she kept moving her little hands up over her face and I would move them and I never had enough time to focus the shot and press the shutter before she moved them back.  Finally we had mom move them and I would focus before she let go so I could capture the image.  I was thrilled to use some new and different things for this session.  I had never gotten to use the girl bear hat I made months ago, and the new pink furry blanket worked out well too.  I have to say that I am loving my blue background.  I had it in my head to use it just for boys, but the past two girlies I have had here had outfits that had the exact blue of the background in it….how perfect.  Just like Miss K….perfect!  Hope you enjoy her session proof video!

Not much to say other than you have to see how cute this little chunky monkey is. I so wish I had a monkey hat to put him in. I had to settle for my little bear hat and the acorn hat I crocheted. I was SO happy to finally have a willing participant to wear the acorn. He wore it well! Enjoy.

I have been on a ROLL with blogging. Yes, it even surprises me. I wish it was something I loved to do. I am not huge into following blogs, and the ones I do are so wonderfully written and I always feel that my blog will never quite reach that. I wish I was great at recapping the funny or cute things that happened during my sessions so that you all would love reading this blog and not just looking at the pictures. Oh well, it is what it is. No point in trying to make this something it is not.

I titled this blog post “he loves me, he loves me not” because it is what I thought of when I was going through her proofs…so I made up this cute storyboard.

This was a very nice session, finally starting to get some kiddos in here that are happy the whole time they are here. That helps SO much. I like to think that the photographer is responsible for how great an image comes out and the more I do this, the more I realize that the subject plays a HUGE role in the image. My best sessions are when I have a model who is happy and engaged in what we are doing. I am working on my skill on how to make that happen when it isn’t happening naturally. Miss L is so super cute, and she was so much happier to be in the studio compared to her other sessions. I hope that she and her mom enjoyed the session too. Hope you enjoyed her pictures!

So this little guy has such fun parents.  Seuss is a big deal in their house!  I was told that they even had their wedding vows Seuss style, I mean how cool IS that?  I love how much fun it was to play with the various Seuss things his mom brought to his session.  His crib comforter really was fun, the custom onesie, and the big toys, I mean come on!  I think that the elephant hat is a reference to Horton Hears a Who, but I can not be certain.  This was a blast, I hope you enjoy his pictures!
